Volunteers needed for neighborhood projects

Interested in helping Montare keep its operating expenses down and fixing two problems before they grow larger and costlier?  We’re looking for volunteers to help with two projects this spring/summer:

-Power-washing and staining the wood surface of the kids’ play structure in the park.

-Fixing the drainage of the trail head on 74th where rain regularly washes the trail surface onto the street and into our storm drainage system.

HOA board member Mike G. is organizing the formation and scheduling of the work crews.  He’ll power-wash the play structure himself (but will need permission to use a nearby home’s faucet if there isn’t one in the park), but could use 2-3 others willing to join him wield paint brush or roller when staining.

The trail drainage work will need a larger crew and will likely involve cutting and filling a French drain of as-yet undetermined length.  We are hoping someone will step forward as the planner for this, scoping out what materials and possible tool rentals are needed to fix this problem for good.  Any expenses will be covered by the HOA landscaping budget.

Both projects should take only part or a full Saturday.  The staining schedule will need to be flexible, contingent on the weather.  And the duration of the trail work will depend on how many volunteer and how long of a French drain we need.

If you’re interested in helping in either or both of these projects, please contact Mike (see community directory for contact info) with dates you know you WOULDN’T be able to help through July.  Especially for the trail work, Mike will pick a Saturday in which the greatest number of people can contribute their time, and will give as much warning as possible so folks keep the date open.

Thanks in advance to all who help keep Montare an enjoyable place to live and play.
