Hello all, the next HOA Board meeting is scheduled for Wednesday May 21 at 7 pm at Mike G’s house, 20703 76th. Please note that this is a different location than usual.
A mother mallard duck and four chicks were spotted roaming the cul-de-sac on 76th this afternoon. Please be careful driving in this area and perhaps keep pets away as well. The baby ducks look to be no more than a week or two old. I’ll try to get pictures if they come around again.
A pair of mallards have also been visiting backyards on 76th. They have come to our backyard and nibbled on spilled corn from the bird feeders. They appear to be a mated pair. It’s possible that the female is the same one that was spotted with the chicks - I wasn’t able to see the mom duck closely enough to tell.
A couple of houses down our end of 76th have had trouble with field mice. A clerk at Home Depot mentioned that he’s been selling a lot of mouse traps so the weather may be causing the mice to visit homes looking for shelter. If you have mice, the first thing to do is remove all food sources and close up entry points. Then, trap the mice. Live traps are available at McLendon’s Hardware in Woodinville. They are easy to use and our forest is a great place to release the mice. Check them often though - mice don’t survive very long in them. If you are not up for dealing with a live trap, Home Depot has electronic kill traps that quickly zap the mouse.

Mike G. (our vice-pres) is heading up the committee to seek out nominees to fill the board position which becomes vacant at the end of the year. If you can volunteer to be on the nominating committee, please contact Mike at montareboard@live.com. We anticipate no more that a few hours per month (intermittently) will be required.
As you may have noticed, Waste Management did not pickup yard waste from our neighborhood last Friday. Bob U. has spoken with them and they indicated they will set up a pickup tomorrow (Tuesday) or Wednesday.
Save the date for the Annual Montare Picnic
on August 24 th from 3:00pm til 8:00pm
at Cottage Lake Park
We will have our traditional grilled burgers, hot dogs and pot luck dinner.
There is a swimming pool open to the public for a per hour fee.
And of course there is the lake, play ground, basketball court and nature trail for your enjoyment also.

If you are traveling on 205th ST, take care around the street work. The county is taking out some cottonwood tree roots that are pushing into the pavement and repairing the damage the roots have already caused along the walk path on the left side of the street (as you travel towards the end of the street). The foreman said it would take a few days to complete the removal and repaving. Thanks to Donna N., chairman of our landscape committee for coordinating this work with the county. ~ Bob U.
